So, you want to be a Rock Star, huh?…what about a classic guitarist, or country guitarist, or maybe even a blues or jazz guitarist? Or, maybe you simply want to improve your skills of your favorite pastime…playing the guitar. Well, as you know or are probably discovering, one-on-one, in-person guitar lessons can be expensive, ranging anywhere from $25/hour to over $40/hour, and there is no guarantee that you will learn how to play the guitar or improve your current skills. Over time, learning the guitar using this traditional method of instruction can cost you thousands of dollars per year (Even at the low end of the price range, $25/hour for 2-hours/week for 50-weeks in a year - 2 weeks left out for vacation - your total cost for one year of lessons would be $2,500; even if you did only 1-hour/week, the cost would still be expensive at $1,250 for the year…and, again, that’s using the low-end of the price range).

But, you ask, what’s the alternative? How can I learn to play the guitar if I don’t get professional instruction? My answer is simple: “digital” or “online” guitar lessons provided by a professional guitarist with teaching experience.

So, what are “digital” or “online” guitar lessons? Simply put, they are the equivalent of one-on-one guitar lessons that are presented by an experienced guitar instructor and come in the pre-packaged form of a CD, DVD, video file, audio file, and/or web-access. Why would someone choose their guitar instruction to come in the form of a disk or web-site instead of in-person? Simple:

? Inexpensive
Most of these quality programs are offered at about $25-$50 while some may cost upwards of $200. However, compared to traditional in-person instruction as calculated previously, these programs, provided by experienced guitarists, would save you thousands per year.

? Money-Back Guarantee
Have you ever heard of a guitar instructor offering a money-back guarantee? Most, if not all, of these programs do!

? Experienced Instruction Whenever, Wherever and for However Long You Wish
No more wasting time and money commuting or trying to schedule your life around your instructor’s schedule. Now you can practice with a professional whenever, wherever and for however long you wish. You could get professional guitar instruction at 2am if you wanted.

? FREE Repeat Instruction
No more wasting money because you can’t seem to grasp a skill and you have to continue to ask your instructor during multiple lessons to spend time showing you how it is to be performed. With these digital or online guitar programs, you can get experienced instruction on whatever skill you need as many times as you need it…and it doesn’t cost you any more money!

? FREE Ongoing Support
Most, if not all of these courses, offer continued online support for FREE after you purchase their program. What guitar instructor who offers in-person lessons would give you their phone number or even their email address so that you could ask them questions anytime you needed some support?

The disadvantages of using digital or “online guitar lessons” are:

? NONE
With a cost typically less than 1% of a year’s worth of in-person guitar instruction; a money-back guarantee; experienced, professional instruction anytime, anywhere and for however long; no commuting; and ongoing support for FREE. What else can you ask for? Nothing, I think.

So, before you go looking for a “place of instruction” for learning how to play the guitar or improve your current abilities, you might want to review some of the “online instruction” being offered in the comfort of your own home at your own pace. These programs could very well get you playing like an experienced guitarist in no time while saving you a small fortune, literally thousands of dollars, each year. You can review some of these educational programs at Online Guitar Lessons at www.databaseofknowledge.com/music/online-guitar-lessons.php http://www.databaseofknowledge.com/music/online-guitar-lessons.php (simply cut-and-paste this link if it is not clickable or click on the associated link found in the About the Author box located below this article).

Data Protection: Why and How http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/17/data-protection-why-and-how/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/17/data-protection-why-and-how/#comments Sat, 17 May 2008 11:58:24 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/17/data-protection-why-and-how/ The advent of world-spanning computer technologies has created an environment in which all sorts of data is easily accessible by almost anyone. At the same time, more and more of our personal data is being collected and stored in computer systems. How can we be sure that it’s safe? Data protection systems and technologies exist to protect our privacy.

Data protection is geared towards protecting personal information such as family details and medical records - information we may not want to share with just anyone. Data protection schemes aim to guarantee everyone a basic minimum of privacy in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. People dealing with sensitive government or corporate information may also rely on data protection.

Data protection begins with the type of privacy agreements which you will often see when you’re asked to enter personal information into a website. This is the first stage of data protection - communication, ensuring that all those who are party to information exchange agree on what constitutes private data. Protection of such information can’t otherwise be assumed, as the rules on what ought to fall under data protection schemes differ in different countries and between different organisations.

Whenever sensitive information is stored on computer systems, the law demands that it must be subject to adequate data protection. Special data protection software has been developed for this purpose, designed to identify this information and keep it separate from other records. Data protection depends on good information management, limiting access and, in some cases, limiting the period for which information is stored. Data protection software may also limit the context in which sensitive information can be utilised.

The advent of secure data protection systems minimises the risk of identity fraud faced by computer users sharing personal information. Data protection is essential in ensuring that emerging technologies do not undermine the older systems on which society is based.

Seasonal Dictates for your Fashion Wardrobe http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/17/seasonal-dictates-for-your-fashion-wardrobe/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/17/seasonal-dictates-for-your-fashion-wardrobe/#comments Sat, 17 May 2008 10:18:51 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/17/seasonal-dictates-for-your-fashion-wardrobe/ Fashion is a powerful cultural feature that means different things to different people. To some, it is a strong emotion bordering on fanaticism while to others it is a non-event. People the world over - just like you - have often wondered why they find themselves thumbing through fashion magazines, concerned about the seasonal wardrobe revamp and why it has to be done every three months. Those in the Fashion business create clothes and styles for all sorts, and their market depends on consumers replacing their wardrobe periodically. Interestingly Fashion is rarely an original creation. Rather it follows a periodic cycle with styles constantly repeating over the decades.

While you may not be fortunate enough to be able to hop from city to city or from country to country to pick up high-end fashion from your chosen designer, you can pay attention to the reviews and ratings posted in the news, and find advice on creating your own high-fashion wardrobe. Most trends in women’s high-end apparel fashion start in the ever popular Paris, London, Milan, and New York City. These hubs of the fashion industry are great forecasters of the cutting edge styles and materials that will be adapted for mainstream shoppers years down the road. For a long time, Paris was the Mecca of fashion for cutting-edge couture. Now, several cities throughout the world have earned just about the same respect and provide eye-popping fashion-forward designs. In general, as long as the designer and district has caught the attention of forecasters, the industry and a market, the designer’s work can withstand competing with nearly any big name in the world.

Pants, for instance, came into vogue in the Middle Ages and their invention stemmed from women farm workers. Traditionally they wore long skirts, and in order to prevent them from getting muddy, the back of the skirts were pulled up between their legs and tucked into their waist. And so pants were created! Much later, pants came to Europe and became the normal choice for men. Pants are usually referred to as a pair of pants , for until the 17th Century they were made using a separate sheath of fabric for each leg, then tied by a belt at the top. Each legging was called a pantaloon . The Americans coined the term pants in 1840’s and it was considered a vulgar term at that time. In the early 1900’s, Denim Pants came into vogue to act as tough coveralls for mine workers. It was only in the 1940’s that demin became fashionable.

No fashion forecaster is naive or vane enough to predict which clothing designs are sufficiently influential to change how the entire industry makes apparel. Or how long today’s fashion will last. In fact, few fashion forecasters are willing to bet on what direction apparel fashion will take even for the next season…

Whether you sport blue jeans and a tee shirt or a power suit and tie, you can be sure that it was a fashion statement in the past and will be a again soon. Fashion is here to stay for as long as man has bodies and culture. Our need will be ever present to drape our frames in fabrics, add color to our faces and nails and futher decorate ourselves with stones attached to precious metal chains and ringlets. Many will see fashion as the way to reflect their identity and position in the community.

Five Steps to Making Money With Other Peoples Products http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/five-steps-to-making-money-with-other-peoples-products/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/five-steps-to-making-money-with-other-peoples-products/#comments Sat, 17 May 2008 01:33:43 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/five-steps-to-making-money-with-other-peoples-products/ If you want to make money online without having you own products, selling other people’s products could be the ticket. Selling others products has many advantages. You do not have to spend time on creating the products, you do not have to set up a system to sell and deliver the products, and you do not have to get a merchant account and pay recurring merchant account fees. The person who owns the product does all of these things for you. All you have to do is market the product and make money with it.

So how can you make money with other people’s products? People who have created products usually run affiliate programs. An affiliate program is a way for you to earn commissions every time you sell someone else’s product. When you sign up for an affiliate program, you will get your own unique id you use to link to products you are promoting. Once you make sales using your affiliate links, you will generate commissions.

Here are five steps to take to make money with affiliate products:

- Find A Product To Sell. Before going any further, you need to find a product that will sell. A product should have a professional appearance, be presented on a professional web site and be a quality product that you would want to recommend to others.

Once you find the product, join the affiliate program for it and get your affiliate links.

- Create A Web Site To Sell The Affiliate Product. Having your own web site to promote the affiliate products is best. I always recommend that you get your own domain name and web hosting to host your web site.

The cost of domain names and web site hosting has come down considerably since just a few years ago. You can now get a domain name for about $8 per year and web site hosting for under $10 per month. At these prices you don’t have to be a millionaire or commit to a large capital outlay to start your own web site.

- Create Content For The Web Site. To get more visitors and more sales, you need content for your web site. It is not enough to just link to the product with your affiliate link. In order to make money with your affiliate link you need to bring potential buyers to your web site. A great way to bring them in is with content that is of interest to them, and is related to the product you are promoting.

One good way to generate the content for your web site is by creating your own content and articles that are related to the topic of the product you are promoting. Another good way is by using the articles that were written by the author of the product. Many authors allow their affiliates use the authors’ articles on their web sites, and use the affiliate link in the resource box.

- Optimize Your Web Site for Search Engines. Search engine optimization is the process of modifying web page content and meta-information to improve the search engine ranking of the page. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your web site. The more visitors to the web site you have, the more affiliate products you will be able to sell, and the more money you will make.

Make sure you optimize every page of your web site for search engines; that way you will get more web site visitors.

- Use Your Articles To Promote The Affiliate Product. Article publishing is a great way to drive traffic to your web site. Start by writing a few articles that are of interest to the people who would want to purchase the product you are promoting. Use the About The Author Resource Box to promote the product. Then take your articles and submit them to article directories. Doing this will bring more traffic to your web site and help you make more money.

Remember, you do not need to create your own products to make money online. Follow the five steps we outlined above to make lots of money selling other people’s products.

Holiday Travel With Family Fun http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/holiday-travel-with-family-fun/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/holiday-travel-with-family-fun/#comments Sat, 17 May 2008 00:03:45 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/holiday-travel-with-family-fun/ Family holidays can be fun and exciting for all ages. Here are some pointers for finding the best holiday for your family.

First you need to determine the common interests of the family. Ask your children what they would like to see and what they’re studying in school. If you have very young children then usually you will know better than them but try to get them involved. Think of you and your spouse as well; what may be great fun for the kids may be boring and annoying for the adults. Pick somewhere that all of you will enjoy or a destination that gives you the opportunity for quiet time. While kids tend to be unrealistic, you can usually accommodate their interest. For example, if they want to take an African safari you could visit the immense animal park in San Diego, California.

Theme parks are fun for the kids and offer entertainment for adults as well. Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida includes the Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Universal Studios and MGM Studios. There are luxury hotels located right inside the park and a monorail takes visitors to different parts of the park so there’s no need to drive. The park is not the only attraction; there are other nearby attractions including the Kennedy Space Center, Coco Beach and Sea World.

A trip through the historic east coast is another fun holiday that the kids and adults are sure to enjoy. The east coast has beautiful mountains and beaches and contains most of the United States’ history. Attractions are close to each other compared to the rest of the U.S. so a road trip is the best way to travel with the family to this part of the country. Historic sights include George Washington’s home in Virginia and the Arlington Cemetery. The Smithsonian Museums in Washington, D.C. are free and there is something to interest everyone. There is the Space and Aeronautics Museum that children really enjoy with life size replicas and actual aircraft showing the history of flight. Washington also contains the U.S. political buildings such as the White House and the Pentagon.

Southern California offers many sights and is especially warm and pleasant in the late fall and early spring when most of the country is cold. Los Angeles is the film industry capitol of the world. You can visit Universal Studios theme park and Disneyland. You may even be able to catch the taping of a television show. San Diego which is just about two hours south of Los Angeles is a beautiful mid size city and has many tourist options. The San Diego Zoo is world renowned and Sea World is a must see for wildlife enthusiast. If you have young children then be sure to visit Legoland which has rides and even replicas of famous sights made entirely out of Legos.

Family holidays can be fun for the entire family. It’s important to find a holiday that will interest the kids as well as the adults.

Gym Love http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/gym-love/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/gym-love/#comments Fri, 16 May 2008 19:02:48 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/gym-love/ The place is hot and steamy, pulsing with the beat of blaring music and gyrating bodies. You see her working it across the crowded floor, and you have to meet her. A brilliant idea: you’ll buy her a drink. But wait a second - that only works in night clubs, and you’re at a health club. So while you could send a 20 oz. Tropical Xtremo Gatorade her way, that probably won’t produce the intended result, no matter how important it is to replenish fluids during strenuous exercise. What do you do?

Gyms notoriously attract eye-catching people. There’s no greater concentration of sinewy muscles and tight, skimpy clothing anywhere… except maybe the adult thriller section of your local Blockbuster Video. Let’s face it, even the most average-looking gym-goer is fit and healthy, or at least will be in a few months. But while fitness clubs are a veritable bakery of available beefcakes and beefcakettes, they can actually be rather tricky places to meet people. Gyms are often chock full of cheesy pick-up artists with sleazy come-ons, or, on the other side, designer gear-wearing posers who walk around a whole lot and manage to lift very little.

But there has to be some way for normal people to meet other normal people at the gym, right? The simple answer is yes, but not without keeping several things in mind - especially if your idea of a good opening line is something like “Nice shoes, wanna french?”

Listen up, all you muscle-bound Casanovas out there: no matter how eager you are to begin the mating… er, dating process, you’ve got to scope out the scene. Some gyms are as flirty as all-you-can drink “body shot nite” at Club Med. Others, well, you’d probably have better luck cruising a Buddhist monastery. Look around. Are people talking… with each other… and not asking whether they can “work-in”? If that’s the case, fire up conversations at will (we’ll cover what to say shortly). But if the atmosphere is more businesslike, it’s probably best to keep minding your own. Unsolicited banter, no matter how witty, can stick out worse than a left elbow during assisted tricep dips.

Next, and most importantly: you can check someone out, just don’t freak them out. It’s one thing to sneak a peek while she’s sprawled on the stretching mat, but quite another to train your penetrating gaze on her (no matter how amazing her side crunch technique might be). Among the women I’ve spoken to, the consensus is clear. One or two quick glances, and maybe even a little smile, are flattering; prolonged staring, drooling, or high-fiving your equally lecherous friends, is not. Of course, even the strongest exhibit occasional weakness - if you absolutely can’t help it, use the gym’s mirrors for a far less detectable stare. (This technique can also give you a better view of, shall we say, the traditionally hidden parts of an alluring physique.)

You’ve spotted someone on the lat machine, you’ve used the mirror, and you like what you see. You’re ready to make your move, right? Hold on there, tough guy. The next step is recognizing her receptiveness. Just as exercise is a social experience, it can also be solitary and serious. Some people just want to get in and get out as quickly as possible. This is especially true at gyms where members squeeze workouts into hectic appointment schedules, or even before the workday begins. People probably aren’t looking for romance in the midst of the daily grind, and while your hormones might be awake at 6:00 a.m., it’s unlikely that someone who gets up while it’s still dark wants to meet anyone, aside from the coffee stand guy.

Same can be said of those who hit the gym after work - chances are they just want to exercise, go home, and eat a salad. If some meathead wearing zebra-print Zubaz pants impedes that progress, do you think he’ll get that number (the real one)? She might have caught your eye, but you can’t assume the feeling is mutual unless she sees you and smiles back. Even then, wait an extra minute, just to make sure she’s not there with her championship kick-boxer boyfriend, who’d be more than happy to use your face as a leather focus mitt.

When it comes to opening lines, we all have our stand-bys. But at the gym, inspired pick-ups like “Sagittarius, right?,” “I’m on the football team,” and “please don’t call the cops” might not work as well. True, women’s reactions vary, depending largely on delivery, making it tough to say what to say. But there are definitely techniques to avoid. Worst offender? The old “let me show you how to do that” maneuver. We’ve all seen this move in action, and might even be guilty of trying it (listen up, personal trainers). There’s nothing wrong with correcting someone’s form - unless it’s used as a pretext to ogle her body at close range, or, worse, place an “instructive” hand on it.

Most men don’t mind a stranger’s touch (and probably fantasize about it), but women like it about as much as filthy bathrooms, back hair, and spitting contests. Here’s something else they hate: guys who comment on how stretchy they are. Yes, women are flexible, and flexibility is awesome - just ask Emoke Ritter, world-famous Hungarian contortionist (you’ve never heard of her?). Women understand they can bend in ways that stir the male imagination - spare yourself the embarrassment of mentioning it.

The last thing a woman wants to hear from a stranger, unless you’re Leonardo DiCaprio, is “boy are you flexible.” Same goes for “great muscle tone,” “killer pecs,” or “nice ass.” Keep the focus off her body, at least out loud. Instead, comment on the book she’s reading or the music she’s listening to. Or simply ask what her name is. Talk a little. Work out a little. Established a rapport first, then you can show her the right way to do a shoulder press. Better yet, let her show you.

Kenya-Rhino walking Safaris: Through glades, caves and rhino country http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/kenya-rhino-walking-safaris-through-glades-caves-and-rhino-country/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/kenya-rhino-walking-safaris-through-glades-caves-and-rhino-country/#comments Fri, 16 May 2008 12:55:06 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/kenya-rhino-walking-safaris-through-glades-caves-and-rhino-country/ There are hundreds of cones and lava flows on the exploded hills of the 100-kilometre range that is the Chyulu hills. The most recent Shetani and Chaimu, happened in the mid 1900s drawing black volcano solidified lava paths in Tsavo west. I am quite determined to find the only point in the hills which has water. It’s a slow drip that takes five minute to fill a small mug. We begin our ascent to the hills which rise to 7,178 feet in search of the water point.

It’s magical country, all green glades and flowers in bloom. We catch site of a reddish antelope in the distance which we think is the rare Chandler’s bush buck. The car winds its way slowly through the grass-filled roads and volcanic ridges and the higher we get the more impressive the vast open the lands below.

Sitting on the high glades next to the sky feels like being in heaven. We ignore the massive steel booster that stands like an intruder on a high peak. The ant-eating, earth-dwelling aardvark holes are clean and showing they are in residence. It would be easy to trip over them save for the clearing by the holes.

A team of researchers passed by in search of a rare two-honed chameleon believed to be found here and in few other forests groves. In the three days of criss-crossing the park, these are the only people we meet-that’s exclusion.

Adan, the ranger, guides us through the maze of horse-shoe shaped cones to where he thinks the water point is. We have to climb the hill to reach the top. The late afternoon sun is thankfully cool as we walk uphill past the gaze of hartebeest that stares at us and then canters further uphill. The black lava eroded path is damp and my spirit is elevated. We must be getting close to the water point.

Closing in on the brow of the hills, look up to see the most magnificent view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Kibo’s high peak floats above a thin layer of clouds while Mawenzi is cushioned in a fluff of clouds.

Wait here”, says Onyango. “I was here a year ago and saw the water coming out of there,” he says pointing to a grove of tall trees. He walks down and reappears after a few minutes.” Its not there he announces looking a little lost. With the sun first making its way down, it’s clear we have to live this water hunting for another time.

The Chyulus are very delicate and little explored. Peter Bally,a botanist at the museum, led an expedition up there in 1938. He was married to the legendary Joy Adamson and celebrating their honeymoon and, I might add, a great place to do just that. It was here that Bally discovered his wife extraordinary painting skills. As the story goes Joy painted a plant and, frustrated in the outcome, tore it into pieces and threw it in the bin. Bally found the pieces and taped them together, giving Joy the impetus to paint the plants which still grace the walls of the museum.

“The Chyulus are volcanic rubble so are very porous. And because they are very young in terms of geological time scale, they don’t really have a great diversity of plant species, “Quetin Luke, a botanist at the National Museums of Kenya, explained to me on my first visit there a few years ago.

With no water and volcanic ash for a ground base, the plant life that has evolved is very specialized.

On our way down, the rangers show us a rare sandal wood which could land a wood poacher behind bars for many years. “This park is very beautiful,”says Onyango the warden.” But we need money to open up the infrastructure and more rangers to patrol it. There are lots of animals here like the rare giant forest hog which is seen mostly in the Aberdares forest, greater kudus and cheetahs, and threatened species of trees like the sandal tree (Osyris lanceolata) and the Olea Africana, beautiful woods which are the carvers ‘favorite.’

“The Chyulu Hills national park is diverse with a water catchment’s area, the forest, the beautiful hills and caves. There is a breeding herd of the great kudus in the northern Chyulus at Mukururu besides the Rhino sanctuary,” Jim Simons describes some of the park inhabitants.

“A rhino sanctuary in the Chyulu hills?” I ask in surprise. Were they translocated here?” “No, these are indigenous black rhinos, “Simons explains.” Before the poaching era of the late 1970s, my greatest fear on the walking Safaris was to bump into a rhino. And I’ve been chased quite a number of times.” He says.

With that announcement, day three is arranged we drive into the Mukururu gate, 13 kilometers off the main road opposite the Makindu Sikh temple. The drive into the interior is rockier and wilder with large expanses of green glades. The staff offices lie by the base of one conical hill.

“We have about 21 black rhinos here,” the younger ranger tells us. “Can we see them?” I ask. “We’ll have to walk because they are no roads here,” he says. To look for a rhino in the hills at this late hour in the day would be like looking for a pin in the haystack. But it’s the very incentive to return for a walking safari in the near future.

Getting there

The hills lie 190 kilometres southeast of Nairobi. You can only camp in the National park. The Chyulu Hills National Park is a heaven for people who love walking. Your operator will get your smart card and park tariffs for entry into the park and reserves. Stay at Umani Springs camp, a tented affair in the heart of Kibwezi forest. It’s affordable with a range of nature walks around the forest and the second largest collection of natural springs after the Mzima springs.

Parrot Pets In Edmonton http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/parrot-pets-in-edmonton/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/parrot-pets-in-edmonton/#comments Fri, 16 May 2008 11:06:54 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/parrot-pets-in-edmonton/ Known as the Gateway to the North, Edmonton in Alberta, Canada is a popular commercial, manufacturing, and transportation center situated in an agricultural and mining area. Having a rich agricultural area, Edmonton is known to be one of the best places to breed and buy a pet parrot.

Indeed, if there were one type of bird that is preferred by many pet lovers, that would be parrots. Over the years, parrots have become a popular choice for pets because they colorful, beautiful, entertaining, and impressive pets to have.

And since they can be trained to “talk,” or imitate sounds from their environment, parrot pets are considered wonderful companions by many seasoned animal lovers. If you’re planning to buy a pet parrot in Edmonton-or in any place for that matter-here are some of the basic things that you have to purchase to give your parrot pet a healthy and happy environment:

1. A decent and loving home. Just like any other parrot, Edmonton parrots pets are known to thrive in attention. Giving the bird a decent and loving home will keep it healthy and closer to its owner.

2. Good healthy diet. It is quite important to feed your pet parrot the best diet that you can. Try to change its diet and make it as interesting as possible.

3. A large and safe cage. Although large pet parrot cages are advisable, it’s not really necessary. What’s important is you provide your pet parrot the proper or medium-sized cage it needs to explore and sleep in. For Edmonton parrot pets, it is advisable that you buy cages that can be transformed into a play area to keep your parrot amused and safe.

4. A good range of toys. It is a must that every bird posses a variety of toys to play. At least three sets of toys are recommended to keep your pet parrot interested. Try to choose toys that are non-destructive and are large or small enough to fit into your parrot’s cage. It’s not really necessary to buy expensive toys because they can be home-made as long as the parrot enjoys it.

5. A dependable T-stand. T-stands are actually training tools, thus, they should not be placed where the bird can use it often because they can do tricks you might miss.

Other must haves include the gym or play stand, scale, and a carrier to transport them safely.

Parenting Advice http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/parenting-advice/ http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/parenting-advice/#comments Fri, 16 May 2008 11:06:52 +0000 sunshineblog http://sunshineblog.ptdec.org/2008/05/16/parenting-advice/ Parenting advise comes in many different forms. Some may use a strict discipline, and others may use more of the friendship method. Whatever fits your family there are some important aspects to parenting that need to be looked at. These are Health, Education, and where to find parenting advise. Now days advise can be found on the internet or just about anywhere. But some of the good places to find advice are from your own parents, family members, psychologists, ministers of church, teachers, and other child professionals. Most importantly children will look at you for how they should act so if you don’t want your children to do something, then you should not do it. Parents need to be active in their child’s life at all times, only then will a parent truly know what the child needs.

One aspect of great parenting is to make sure your child’s health is taken care of. This does not just mean eating healthy, but also excerise and getting good doctor check-ups is part of that. As a parent you should encourage your child to eat three good balanced meals a day and if snacks are required then a good snack of veggies would help in curving your child’s way of eating. Also involvement in sports or just other activities than watching TV, playing video games and working on the computer. Even try to take your child out and do some activity with them. And then lastly, taking your child to the doctor for regular check-ups will help give your child a well rounded healthy life.

Education for our children is also another important aspect of raising our children. Sometimes making the choice of which educational choice is right for your child/family is a tough one. Just because most people you know choose a specific venue, does not mean it is the best for your child/family. Some families have children in several different educational venues. There are several choices, such as public, private, and home school. There are many things in all venues of education that will help your child get a good education. In public and private schools teachers are a good source for helping you know what to do to help your children. It is just a matter of asking for that help and then acting on it. It does not do any good to ask the teacher what you can do to help and then do nothing after getting the suggestions. Take an active part in your child’s education, just as you do in their physical and spiritual aspects of their lives. Knowing what the school is teaching your child should not be a mystery to you. Volunteer to chaperone a field trip, or help out the teacher in class occasionally. Teachers will help you find ways to be involved. Not only will it help your child, but others as well. This brings us to home schooling as a venue. Don’t believe all the myths out there about home schooling. Find some people in your community that do it and check it out. It may be what is right for you. There are so many educational helps today for home schooling that it is not as hard as you may think. Two of the most frequent objections heard today about home schooling, besides education are I couldn’t do it because my child doesn’t listen to me and we argue too much. It may be surprising to some of these people how much their child would actually begin to listen because that child has their parents attention and care for more than a few minutes each day. I have not heard of too many home schooling parents or children that don’t grow closer to one another. The other frequent objection besides education is that there is a lack of social experience, though this may be true for some, (which is only because that family would not be out doing anything outside the home) it is not the norm. Most home schoolers get involved in homeschool co-ops that get together with other home schoolers each week, and it would be safe to say most have neighbors that they play with. There are even classes that kids can take from other home schooling parents that teach in the co-ops that not only help with the social aspect, but the educational one because these other teachers usually have degrees in these subjects. Homeschooling does not have to mean a lesser education because you don’t think you are smart enough or can’t remember things you did know once upon a time. It also does not mean your child can not learn from and interact with the outside world. It may also be surprising how much can be accomplished with that unruly, rebellious child, and how much the parent and child may grow closer to one another and be able to work together.

With all these aspects of parenting, choose what is right for you and your family and grow together. Parenting advice is out there in many different forms, read and learn on all the different parenting ways, health, and education for your family and make a plan to succeed in parenting. One day you may be helping others with parenting advice.
